Morning Run in Kyoto

When I finally got to Kyoto on Thursday 15 February, 2 days before the marathon, I knew I shouldn’t run. Every time I tried, my ITBS was back and with more pain than before but… I really didn’t want to admit it, even to myself.

So of course next day early morning, in the crispy 1C I went for a gorgeous run along Kamo River. This is definitely the most beautiful (and most popular) running spot in Kyoto with comfortable footpaths on both sides of the river. It wasn’t sunny, the trees were still bare, the air was cold and clear and the silence prevailing. I loved it!

Until… guess what? Yes, after a few kilometers my leg started to hurt again. I wasn’t smiling anymore, I was scared and disappointed. I cut my run short and slowly went back to my apartment. In tears. I knew there is something absolutely horrible and not what I was wishing for awaiting me on Sunday, and this time sadly I knew I am not going to give up. Walking or crawling I am going to finish this marathon, but at what cost?
